It was recorded over the course of a number of recording sessions spanning the second half of 1981 and into January of 1982, and was finally co-released by Ruby and Slash Records in March of 1982.

Trivia[]
- The cover features art taken from two '50s B horror movies: the "Rat-Bat-Spider" from 1959's Angry Red Planet and flying saucers from 1956's Earth Versus the Flying Saucers, showing the Misfits' legendary fascination with '50s B movies.
- The title may be a reference to the 1956 B horror movie The Creature Walks Among Us.
- While the picture has remained the same, the cover has had three different color schemes. The first pressing has a pink background and logo. The second has a purple background and a pink logo. The third, and final, pressing has a purple background and green logo.
- Alkaline Trio referenced this album in the song "We've Had Enough" in the lyrics "Put Walk Among Us on and turn it up."
